Sleep Preferences Q and A | Do's and Dont's | Rotating and Turning | Research
Sleep Preferences It is very important to test, evaluate and purchase a mattress set that is designed to provide proper support and spinal alignment. Don't think that you need to buy a very firm mattress set to experience support and spinal alignment. You may buy a mattress that is plush and still receive the best support and spinal alignment. Remember, Comfort is what you feel when you lay on your bed and support is what you feel when you wake up.
Select a mattress set that is comfortable. Deep R.E.M., (Rapid Eye Movement), sleep cannot be accomplished if you are not comfortable in your bed. You may think that you have slept through the night, but, constant tossing and turning may prevent you from the deep REM sleep needed and desired for full recharge. An uncomfortable bed may trigger a feeling of restlessness when you awake.
- Measure your current mattress set frosm the floor to the top of the mattress before embarking on your buying mission. Today, premium mattresses have more comfort layers making them higher. You may determine that you need a lower profile box spring/foundation beneath your new mattress to allow easy accessibility when you lay down.
- For two (2) persons, purchase the largest mattress set that will fit in your bedroom. A full/double size mattress is 54" wide. A mattress this size gives two (2) persons the width of (27) each, which is the width size of a crib mattress to sleep on. Consider purchasing a queen which is 6 wider and offers more sleep space for two people sharing the same bed.
Standard Mattress Dimensions are :
Twin: 38 x 74 |
Full/Dble: 54 x 74 |
Queen: 60 x 80 |
King: 76 x 80 |
Cal. King: 72 x 84 |

DO rotate your mattress occasionally to help maintain and prolong the quality and comfort of your mattress. Body and Comfort impressions are caused by upholstery material compressions and are normal characteristics of premium bedding. Such body and comfort impressions indicate that the upholstery layers in your mattress are conforming to your individual body shape. Body and comfort impressions up to 2-1/2" are not considered to be a structural defect of premium bedding.
DO replace your old box springs/foundation when you purchase your new mattress to help provide the proper support of your new mattress.
DOuse a quality bed frame to support your mattress and foundation. If you have a Queen- or King-size bed, your bed frame must have a center support that extends to the ground in order to obtain warranty protection.
DOuse a mattress protector to help preserve the surface quality of your mattress, especially if children use the bed. |
DO NOT smoke in bed or expose your mattress to an open flame. Mattresses are manufactured, as required by federal law, to resist ignition from a lighted cigarette, it is not flame or fireproof.
DO NOT attempt to rotate or turn a mattress by yourself. To avoid damage to the mattress or the risk of personal injury, have someone help you rotate or turn your mattress.
